Why is Yoga Day celebrated only on 21st June?

On 11 December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 21 June as International Yoga Day or World Yoga Day. Since then, from 2015 to June 21, International Yoga Day started being celebrated all over the world. The Northern Hemisphere receives the most sunlight on June 21st, leading to the longest day.


In 2014, a proposal was made from India's side that Yoga should be accepted all over the world.


After that the United Nations accepted it, after that our Prime Minister Modi ji addressed the United Nations General Assembly and told about the benefits of yoga. Since 2015, the United Nations celebrates International Yoga Day on 21 June every year. And today if seen, almost all the countries of the United Nations have adopted yoga. So in this way India has given yoga to the whole world.


History of yoga

The tradition of yoga has been going on in India since ancient times. Yoga is being done in our country since the time civilization started. In Yoga Vidya, Lord Shiva is considered as Adi Yogi or Adi Guru. Thousands of years ago on the banks of Kanti Sarovar Lake in the Himalayas, Adi Guru imparted his enlightened knowledge to the famous Saptarishi and the Saptarishis spread the science of that Yoga all over the world. . However, Yoga got its full expression in the country of India only.

The first International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21 June 2015. When was the first yoga day celebrated?

In the year 2014, on 11 December 2014, 177 member countries declared 21 June as International Yoga Day at the United Nations General Assembly. First Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2015. The first Yoga Day was organized by the Ministry of AYUSH on 21 June 2015 at Rajpath in Delhi. Two Guinness World Records were also created on this Yoga Day.


The largest yoga session with the Prime Minister and 35985 participants was attended by 84 citizens of the country in a single session.

On June 21, 2015, a two-day International Seminar on Yoga for Total Health was held at Vigyan Bhawan and representatives of 13 countries along with India participated in it.

👉Gomukh Aasan – This asana is done by sitting. This asana is done to make the body shapely.

👉Vajrasana – In this yoga posture, with the legs bent, they sit on their knees. This asana is beneficial for the spine.
