When is the World Child Labor Prohibition Day observed?
Every year 12 June is celebrated as World Child Labor Prohibition Day across the world. It was started 19 years ago by the International Labor Union. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make children below the age of 14 years aware of education and progress by not making them work, so that children do not lose their dreams and childhood.
Recently, there was a report that the number of child laborers has increased to 16 crores. This figure has increased for the first time in two decades. A report by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and UNICEF says progress towards stopping child labor has stalled for the first time in 20 years.
Many programs are organized around the world on this day. The main purpose of celebrating this day is also to stop child labor. Every year it is an effort to highlight the plight of child labor on World Day on 12 June.

The 'World Day for the Prohibition of Child Labor' was started by the ILO in 2002. This time 'Week of Action' is being celebrated which has started from 10th June. The report points to an increase in the number of children in the age group of 5 to 11 years in child labor, which is more than half of the total number of child laborers in the whole world.
