General Documents Required For All NSP Scholarships
The following documents are typically required for all scholarship applications on the NSP:-
- Aadhaar Card: Your Aadhaar number is mandatory for registration, and your bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar to receive funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
- Bank Account Details: A copy of your bank passbook showing your name, account number, and IFSC code. Ensure your Aadhaar is linked to this account.
- Educational Certificates: Mark sheets and certificates for your previous educational qualifications.
- Passport-size Photograph: A recent photograph of the student.
- Domicile Certificate: Proof of your permanent residence.
- Bona Fide Student Certificate: Issued by your school, college, or university.
For Renewal Applications NSP
- Renewal students are not required to upload a new Income Certificate every year.
- You must provide the mark sheet for the academic year immediately preceding the current one.
For Reserved Categories
Caste Certificate: A valid caste certificate is required for students from SC, ST, or OBC categories, issued by a competent government authority.
Minority Certificate: For scholarships from the Ministry of Minority Affairs, a self-certified community certificate is needed.
For Applicants With Disabilities
Disability Certificate: For scholarships from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, a disability certificate issued by a competent medical authority is necessary.
UDID Details: You may also need to provide your Unique Disability ID (UDID) details, which can be checked on the Swavlamban Portal.
For Income-Based Schemes
Income Certificate: A parental income certificate is required, typically issued by a competent revenue authority like a Tehsildar. Note that Form 16 is not acceptable as an income proof.
For self-employed parents, the income declaration must be from a revenue officer. For employed parents, the certificate can be from their employer, supplemented by a revenue officer certificate for any additional income.

How To Apply NSP Scholarship
To apply for a scholarship through the NSP, students must first complete a One Time Registration (OTR).
- Register on the portal: Go to the official NSP website at scholarships.gov.in and complete the new student registration.
- Generate OTR: A unique 14-digit One Time Registration (OTR) number is generated after successful registration, based on your Aadhaar/Aadhaar Enrollment ID.
- Perform face authentication: You need to perform face authentication using the NSP OTR app to complete the registration process.
- Login and apply: Log in using your OTR ID and password to access and apply for the relevant scholarship schemes.
- Check eligibility: The portal allows you to check your eligibility for various schemes by entering your details.
- Track application status: You can track the real-time status of your application after submission using your application number.
NSP Important Considerations
Aadhaar linking: It is important to ensure your Aadhaar is unlocked for biometric authentication and properly seeded with your bank account for successful DBT payments.
Academic year: The application window for the new academic year opens annually. The portal recently opened for the Academic Year 2025-26.
