The Punjab Subordinate Service Selection Board (PSSSB) Clerk and Clerk (IT) recruitment for 2026 involves a two-part written examination followed by a qualifying typing test.


Punjab SSSB Clerk & IT Exam Pattern 2026

The exam is conducted in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format using OMR sheets, with a total duration of 2 hours 30 minutes.

  • Part A: Punjabi Language (Qualifying) — 50 questions (50 marks). Candidates must secure at least 50% (25 marks) to qualify for Part B evaluation. There is no negative marking in Part A.
  • Part B: Main Merit Paper — 100 to 120 questions. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, with a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.


PSSSB Clerk Syllabus 2026: Subject-wise Topics

General Knowledge & Current Affairs: National and international importance, Indian Constitution, History of India (Freedom Struggle), Geography, Economy, Sports, Cinema, and Literature.

Punjab History & Culture: Physical features, ancient history, Sikh Gurus, Adi Granth, Sikh Rulers, and freedom movements in Punjab.

Logical Reasoning & Mental Ability: Verbal (coding-decoding, analogy, series, directions, blood relations) and Non-Verbal reasoning. Basic numerical skills include percentages, ratio, profit & loss, and time/work.

English Language: Basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, synonyms/antonyms, one-word substitution, active/passive voice, and sentence correction.

ICT (Information & Communication Technology): Basic computer operations, networking, internet, and office productivity tools (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Clerk (IT) Special Subject Syllabus

Candidates for Clerk IT must master technical subjects, including:-

Fundamentals & OS: Computer architecture, multi-threading, memory management (paging, virtual memory), and I/O management.

DBMS: RDBMS architecture, SQL (DDL, DML, DCL), normalization (1NF to 5NF, BCNF), and NoSQL.

Programming & Data Structures: C Programming (loops, arrays, pointers, file handling), flowcharts, and data structures (linked lists, stacks, queues, sorting/searching algorithms).

Networks & AI: OSI layers, protocols, and basics of Artificial Intelligence (Neural Networks, NLP).


Post-Written Test: Typing Test

Candidates qualifying in Part B must undergo a typing test:-
  1. Speed: 30 words per minute (WPM) in both English and Punjabi.
  2. Punjabi Font: Must use the Raavi font (Unicode-compliant).
