ICAI CA January Exam 2026 Eligibility
To be eligible for the ICAI CA January 2026 exams, candidates must meet specific registration, study period, and training requirements depending on the exam level. The January 2026 exams are held for the Intermediate and Final levels.
1. CA Intermediate
To appear for the January 2026 Intermediate exam, you must have completed the required nine-month study period.
2. Eligibility Requirements:
Foundation Route: You must have registered for the Intermediate course and cleared the CA Foundation exam. The deadline to register for the Intermediate course to be eligible for the January 2026 exam was March 31, 2025.
Direct Entry Route: You can register for the Intermediate course through the direct entry method. This applies to:
- Commerce graduates with at least 55% marks.
- Non-commerce graduates with at least 60% marks.
- Intermediate-level passed candidates from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI).
3. CA Final
Eligibility for the January 2026 Final exam is contingent upon meeting requirements related to articleship, training, and modules, with specific rules depending on the articleship duration.
General requirements:
- Articleship training:
- 3-year articleship: You must either complete your three-year training by December 31, 2025, or be in the last six months of your training as of January 1, 2026, with the training concluding by June 30, 2026.
- 2-year articleship: You must have completed the prescribed two years of training (including excess leave) by June 30, 2025.
Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS):
You must have completed the AICITSS before appearing for the January 2026 Final exam.
Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOMs):
You must qualify for the applicable Self-Paced Online Modules (Sets A, B, C, and/or D). The specific modules you need to clear depend on your eligibility category.
CA Foundation
The ICAI CA Foundation exam is not held in January, but typically in June and December. Therefore, there are no eligibility criteria for a January 2026 Foundation exam.
